The most important thing in growing herbs in pots is a sunny place. Therefore, the best place to grow them is on the kitchen windowsill. The depth of the pot is important for the cultivation of herbs and should not be more than 20 cm. Too deep will cause the root system to grow too large. There should be holes in each pot through which excess water can flow out freely. When growing domestic herbs don’t forget about proper drainage. Herbs’ roots can’t be in constant contact with water or they will rot and wilt.
The ideal time to sow seeds is early March. Herbs grown in pots should be sown into all-purpose soil or soil designed for vegetables. Herbs grown from seeds are more resistant to external factors than ready-made seedlings available, for example, in discount stores.
